1993. The Vietnam war is over, but for Anh, a Vietnamese refugee now living in Little Saigon, California, the violence of that war, the blood feuds and archaic traditions and money-making schemes are very much alive. She sets up a bogus law practice in Little Saigon with Jana, an American as desperate for money as Anh is. Jana will play lawyer, Anh will get the clients. As they try to make their way through the intricacies of a refugee society dominated by violent gangs, blatant racism and crazy capitalist dreams, the past returns to haunt them both and nearly blows their lives apart.
